Staffordshire tech-firm launches solution to support communities and businesses

A new web service has been launched by a Staffordshire tech-firm to support communities and businesses through the coronavirus restriction period and beyond.

Local Food Drops – developed by Stafford-based iWeb – is a web-based solution that enables people to find businesses which deliver food in their area and includes grocers, butchers, bakers, pet shops and more.

It means people can shop safely at home and gives a boost to local businesses which may have been hit by the pandemic. Businesses can sign up on the website for a listing while customers just add their location and will be presented with the companies closest to them.

People can visit the site at www.localfooddrops.co.uk

iWeb is based at Staffordshire Technology Park in Stafford. The company has been providing e-commerce and digital marketing services for over two decades. It has worked with a range of national clients including Raleigh, JCB and the British Heart Foundation.

As part of the initiative iWeb have also helped seven traditional business to business foodservice companies rework their business models to sell direct to consumers.

iWeb’s Ian Gordon said:

These are incredibly difficult times for communities and businesses across the country as we live through the restrictions.

We wanted to do our bit to provide some support through this period by developing an easy-to-use online solution to enable people to shop at home safely and for businesses to operate as effectively as they can, which is important for the local economy.”

Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP chairman Alun Rogers said:

It’s fantastic to see one of our successful businesses using its expertise and innovation to support communities and local companies across the country through unprecedented times.

At the LEP we are doing all we can to ensure businesses have the right advice and guidance which can change on a daily basis. This is a great web service that can really make a difference and I’d like to commend the team at iWeb for making it available.”
