EUROPEAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND (ERDF)
The European Regional Development Fund is focused on reducing economic disparities within and between member states by supporting economic growth and regeneration and safeguarding jobs.
For the 2014-2020 phase ERDF is worth an indicative £91m for the Stoke on Trent & Staffordshire area. ERDF funding is accessed via a series of national themed bidding calls organised by the Department for Communities and Local Government at regular intervals. Funding opportunities are open to a wide range of eligible public, private and community sector delivery partners.

The bidding call for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is now open.
There is over £20m of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire’s ERDF allocation is available under this call. The open call will include the following ERDF priorities:
PA1 – Research and Innovation
PA2 – Enhancing use and quality of Information and Communications Technology
PA3 – SME Competitiveness
PA4 – Low Carbon Economy in all sectors
PA5 – Climate Change adaption, risk prevention and management
PA6 – Environment

The call opened on the 28 June 2019 and invites outline applications to be submitted by 30 September 2019.
This will then be assessed by the managing authority against the national selection criteria. If successful, the applicant will be required to submit a full application. Detail on the application process can be found in the call specification, including the process for project extensions.
The Government has confirmed that it will guarantee funding for ERDF projects that are contracted by the end of 2020. All contracted ERDF projects must be completed by the end of the programme period, 30 June 2023.
