Governance | Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP
The National Local Growth Assurance Framework sets governance standards for Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). The Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP (SSLEP) follows its own Assurance Framework, detailing how we make decisions and maintain accountability.
Decision Making
The SSLEP’s main decision-making body is the Company Executive Board, which delegates authority to specific sub-groups. Details on our decision-making process and sub-group terms of reference are in our Constitution.
Funding decisions follow our project prioritisation and business case process (Section 8 of the Assurance Framework). Business cases for City Deal and Local Growth Deal funding, including independent assessments, are available in our Publication Library. Information on the Getting Building Fund allocations is also published.
We promote transparency in our decisions—read our SSLEP Report Publication Scheme.
Audit and Accounts
Staffordshire County Council manages our finances as the Accountable Body, ensuring compliance with best practices. Our funding is audited annually, and reports are published below.
Each July, we release Annual Accounts detailing LEP investments, alongside an Annual Report summarising our yearly activities.
Scrutiny
Each year, a joint scrutiny committee of Staffordshire County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council reviews our operations, with input from District and Borough Councils in our region.
